iso consultantFinding the right ISO 9001 consultant to help with your management system is crucial for achieving and maintaining ISO 9001 certification. Contact your ASR representative for a recommended ISO 9001 consultant.

Here are the best steps to find a qualified consultant:

Define Your Requirements:
Clearly understand your specific needs, including the scope of the project, the size of your organization, and the complexity of your processes.

Research:
Use online resources such as professional directories, LinkedIn, and industry forums to identify potential consultants.  Look for consultants with experience in your industry and with the ISO 9001 standard specifically.

Seek Recommendations:
Ask for recommendations from business peers, industry associations, trade organizations, and local business support groups.
Reach out to your network for referrals to consultants they have successfully worked with.

Check Credentials:

Verify that the consultants have relevant qualifications, such as being certified Lead Auditors or having memberships in professional organizations like the American Society for Quality (ASQ). Ensure they have a proven track record of successful ISO 9001 implementations.

Review Experience:
Look for consultants with experience in projects similar to yours.  Check their client testimonials, case studies, and success stories to assess their capabilities.

Conduct Interviews:
Interview potential consultants to understand their approach, methodology, and how they plan to meet your specific needs. Discuss their experience with similar projects and ask about their success rates and challenges.

Request Proposals:

Ask for detailed proposals from shortlisted consultants, outlining their approach, timeline, deliverables, and costs. Compare the proposals based on their understanding of your needs, their methodology, and the value they offer.

Evaluate References:
Contact the references provided by the consultants to get firsthand feedback on their performance.  Ask about their ability to meet deadlines, communicate effectively, and provide valuable insights.

Assess Compatibility:
Ensure the consultant’s working style aligns with your company culture and values. Consider how well they communicate and collaborate with your team.

Review Contracts:
Carefully review the terms and conditions of the contract, including payment terms, confidentiality clauses, and any guarantees or warranties. Ensure the contract clearly outlines the scope of work, deliverables, and timelines.

Make an Informed Decision:

Choose the consultant who best meets your requirements, offers a reasonable cost, and demonstrates a strong understanding of your business needs and the ISO 9001 standard.

By following these steps, you can find a qualified ISO 9001 consultant who can effectively assist you in developing, implementing, and maintaining your quality management system.

Ideas for ISO 9001:2015 Internal Auditing

As ISO 9001 organizations adjust their systems to meet 2015 requirements, it opens an opportunity to add two new processes to the internal auditing requirements to capture effective implementation.

Audit program managers might want to consider Context of the Organization and Strategic Direction as separate audits inside of the organization’s audit program.  Adding these topics to the internal audit process based format requires inputs/outputs to these processes as well as measurement activities to demonstrate effective implementation.

FMEA (Failure Modes Effects Analysis) can be a successful risk reduction tool to assist in meeting the risk planning (design and manufacturing process) requirements mandated by ISO 9001:2015.

As an analytical tool, ISO 9001 organizations can use the FMEA to review steps in a process to determine how much risk there is in each specific process step.
